3. Carolina Panthers

The Panthers have one of the NFL’s most outstanding players at any position in Christian McCaffrey, the man who just became the third player in NFL history to record 1,00 yards rushing and receiving in the same season.

Bizarrely, the Panthers have almost gone out of their way to avoid getting him any sort of protection. Reggie Bonafon and 2019 fifth-rounder Jordan Scarlett are currently Carolina’s backups, and that lack of depth could end their season.

Trying to get both McCaffrey and Mostert on the field together might be problematic at first, but McCaffrey’s versatility could help both of them line up alongside one another. Rather than giving McCaffrey 30 touches a game, which could beat him down over the course of 16 games, the Panthers could use Mostert as the league’s best and most explosive change of pace back.

Going from lead dog on San Francisco to a backup in Carolina might sting for the well-traveled Mostert, but Marty Hurney might just be savvy enough to pull off a trade for the disgruntled 49er.
