Alabama football recruiting does have a pipeline to Louisiana.

Not that Alabama football is ever short on talent at any position, they have produced a pipeline of terrific wide receivers in that vein. And that’s likely to continue thanks to the 2021 recruiting class. The Crimson Tide already have commitments from five-star Jacorey Brooks in addition to two four-star and top-125 recruits, Agiye Hall and Christian Leary. But there’s still more work that could be done.

Specifically, Saban’s staff appears honed in on one Brian Thomas Jr. out of Louisiana. Given where the 6-foot-4, 185-pound pass-catcher hails from, it figures that it’s likely going to come down to Alabama and LSU for the youngster’s services in college football. And while the Tigers may have the in-state advantage, the Crimson Tide would love to steal another high-profile recruit to add to the mix.

Thomas Jr. is a four-star recruit, the No. 7 wide receiver and No. 60 overall player in the 247Sports Composite rankings, showcasing the type of potential he offers. While he needs to add some strength to his frame, Thomas has the requisite length and hands to be a monster in contested-catch situations and a dynamic weapon in the red zone.

With Bryce Young set to take over the offense either in 2020 or 2021 for the Crimson Tide, Saban would love to set up the talented young quarterback with another elite group of wide receivers. They already have a nice foundation in this recruiting class but adding Thomas Jr. as well would only further solidify the immediate future on that side of the ball.
