142. . Forward. Washington Wizards. Isaac Okoro. 9. player

The Washington Wizards could be taking two paths this summer — re-committing to the John Wall-Bradley Beal core and adding complementary role players around them or beginning to really think about what the team looks like when those two are gone. Selecting Okoro is an interesting pick because he checks both boxes and there aren’t many players left on the board with a higher upside.

Okoro is perhaps the best defensive prospect in this group and uniquely versatile, thanks to his elite strength and frame — 6-foot-6, 225 pounds, with a 6-foot-9 wingspan. His special physical tools, awareness and effort make him the kind of cog who can help lift the team’s floor and plug all sorts of matchup-specific holes. He’s not much of a shooter at this point but he has potential as a secondary creator and even if he’s limited to finishing off cuts and in transition, he could help raise the floor for Beal and Wall and plausibly play next to a variety of future pieces if and when the Wizards begin to evolve.
