. Guard. Phoenix Suns. Kira Lewis. 10. player. 66

The Phoenix Suns are continuing to put pieces in place and it was clear with Ricky Rubio on the roster how much a lack of competent point guard play had hindered the development over the past few years. However, Rubio is 29-years-old and probably not a viable starting point guard when the Deandre Ayton-Devin Booker core is ready to make a hypothetical run at contention. There are several interesting point guard prospects at play for Phoenix and in the last mock, I set them up with Tyrese Maxey.

Lewis offers a different look, although a similar surplus of kinetic energy, breaking defenses down with elite speed and ball-handling. He’s a bit more of a natural creator and passer than Maxey but might have a slightly lower upside as a defender and finisher because of his slender frame and average leaping in traffic. Lewis would fit Phoenix’s timeline perfectly and even a scenario where he slowly assumes point guard responsibilities from Rubio would make Phoenix one of the most exciting young teams in the league.
