Scouting Report. 2. player. 817. Pick Analysis. RB. Lakeview Centennial High School (Garland, TX). Camar Wheaton

LSU has a phenomenal shot at landing a superstar five-star running back in this cycle in Camar Wheaton of Garland, Texas. The Lakeview Centennial High School standout is the No. 2 player from Texas, the No. 2 running back prospect this year and the No. 19 player nationally. He has 19 official offers, but it looking at primarily four programs: Alabama, Oklahoma, SMU and Texas.

Wheaton’s primary recruiter to LSU is legendary running back Kevin Faulk. We really cannot being to say how important that is for LSU’s chances to end up with Wheaton’s commitment. While staying home in The Lone Star State could be important to him, as with high interest in SMU and Texas, Oklahoma is LSU’s biggest threat for his commitment. DeMarco Murray is recruiting him.

Assuming staying in-state isn’t a top priority for Wheaton, which it totally could be, it’ll come down to who is a better recruit between Faulk and Murray. Faulk is an SEC legend, as well as a three-time Super Bowl champion with the New England Patriots. Murray might be a tad younger and played for the Dallas Cowboys, but Faulk’s cousin is NFL legend Marshall Faulk. It’s crazy.

Right now, Oklahoma is probably the leader for his commitment, although LSU is probably no worse than No. 3. The Tigers should be ahead of the Mustangs, but we’re not entirely sure where the Longhorns fit into the equation. Recent running back success of Leonard Fournette, Derrius Guice and Clyde Edwards-Helaire might be too enticing for Wheaton to pass up.
