Winning MVP again

Mahomes does not necessarily need another MVP to validate his status as elite, but being recognized as the best player in the game once again would also be a nice touch to his resume.

Only nine players in NFL history have won the award more than once, so Mahomes would be joining a group unlike no other in NFL history. While Mahomes is more than capable of winning the award for the second time in three years, a lot has to go right for it to happen.

Winning and statistics go a long way, similar to how it did for Mahomes in 2018. With more than 5000 yards passing and 50 touchdowns to go along with a 12-4 record (tops in the AFC), Mahomes was clearly the best player on one of the best teams in the NFL in his first year starting.

Another key that goes along with winning is the entertainment factor. Take a look at 2019 MVP Lamar Jackson in Baltimore. In Jackson’s first full year as starter, the Ravens had the best record in the league, Jackson threw for more than 3000 yards and 36 touchdowns thorough the air while adding 1200+ yards and six touchdowns on the ground.

With all that being said, Mahomes will have to be pretty close to spectacular once again. Guys like Christian McCaffrey, Russell Wilson, Deshaun Watson and Drew Brees are all still gunning for their first such award. The competition is heavy, but Mahomes will be right in line competing with all of those guys.
