FanDuel Golf: 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities player selections
By Hans Geevers
This week, the FanDuel/DFS community will be presented with the 3M Open. Let’s take a look at this event from a fantasy golf perspective!
Before I discuss my FanDuel player selections I wanted to clearly emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide a specific lineup. Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a specific lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a FanDuel GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!
Here are my FanDuel player selections for the 2020 3M Open.
Harris English $10,800
The 30 year old American has nine top 17 finishes on the PGA Tour this season, including a ninth place result at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March. Additionally, with regard to this week’s listed 3M Open field, in the last eight rounds played on the PGA Tour, English ranks fourth in strokes gained approach, second in strokes gained tee to green, tenth in strokes gained ball striking, and 22nd in strokes gained putting.
Lucas Glover $10,600
Quite simply, the 2014 United States Open champion has been one of the most consistent golfers on the PGA Tour since the re-start of the season nearly two months ago. Let me be more specific. Since the beginning of June, Glover has played five tournaments on the PGA Tour. In those five events played, Glover has four top 23 finishes, including a 21st place finish at the Rocket Mortgage Classic three weeks ago.
Glover also checks the box for me from a statistical perspective. In the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, with regard to the current listed 3M Open field, Glover ranks fifth on in GIR (greens in regulation), second in strokes gained approach, fourth in strokes gained ball striking, and fourth in strokes gained tee to green.
Sam Burns $10,000
The American arrives at this event on the heels of three consecutive top 30 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a 17th place result at the Workday Charity Open two weeks ago.
Sepp Straka $9,700
The Austrian has two top 14 finishes in his last three events on the PGA Tour, including an eighth place result at the Rocket Mortgage Classic earlier this month.
Will Gordon $9,500
Gordon has three top 21 finishes in his last four events on the PGA Tour, including a third place finish at the Travelers Championship last month.
Charley Hoffman $9,300
He finished seventh at the Workday Charity Open earlier this month. It should be noted that in relation to the field, upon conclusion of the Workday Charity Open, Hoffman finished 14th in GIR (greens in regulation-70.8%) for the four round event.
Seamus Power $7,600
The 33 year old Irishman has three consecutive top 38 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a 12th place result at the Rocket Mortgage Classic three weeks ago. Power also currently ranks seventh in birdie or better percentage (25.64%) on the PGA Tour. I think Power presents outstanding value at a FanDuel price of only $7,600.
As always, good luck!
