The Seattle Kraken accidentally leaked their own logo before the reveal

The Seattle Kraken screwed up the very first thing they ever did by leaking their own logo.

First impressions matter, and Seattle’s first impression on the NHL wasn’t great.

The reveal of the Seattle Kraken may go down in history as a resounding success based on the overwhelmingly positive reaction around the league, but their livestream started out with a pretty serious screw up.

The livestream began right on time, but not with the name reveal like planned. Instead, the stream started halfway through an out of context video that was certainly planned for later. Worst of all, at the bottom of the stream was the still unrevealed logo.

All those months of keeping the name and logo under wraps, only to screw it up mere minutes before the official reveal. For some extra salt in the wound, the audio would cut out for several minutes once the actual name reveal began. Fortunately, it was fixed in time before the big reveal.

Despite the early screw up, everything else for Seattle went better than expected. The name, jerseys, and logo are all fantastic and a breath of fresh air from all the generic names and colors usually seen in American sports.

The Seattle Kraken will begin play as the 32nd team in NHL history in the 2021-22 NHL season, so not this next season but the one after that. The Kraken’s home arena will be the Climate Pledge Arena, and they will compete in the Pacific division while the Arizona Coyotes move to the Central division to give all four divisions exactly eight teams each.

The next major event for the Kraken will be the expansion draft to acquire a roster to put on the ice. The expansion draft will take place after the 2021 Stanley Cup has been awarded, with the same rules as the Vegas Golden Knights from 2017. Hopefully that goes a little smoother then the name reveal did.

Next. Several rookies were wrongly excluded from Calder Trophy consideration. dark
