FanDuel DFS Golf: Final round player selections for the 3M Open
By Hans Geevers
This Sunday, the FanDuel/DFS community will be presented with the final round of the 3M Open. Let’s take a look at the final round slate from a fantasy golf perspective!
Before I discuss my FanDuel player selections I want to clearly emphasize that this article is focused on the final round contest. The FanDuel final round contest is vastly different with regard to scoring than the traditional contest offered by FanDuel which focuses on an entire golf tournament.
One important note regarding the rules for the final round contest is that finishing position does not provide any additional points or bonuses. The scoring for this contest is solely focused on a golfer’s performance in the final round.
If you have any additional questions regarding the rules for the final round contest I strongly recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.
Here are my final round player selections for the 3M Open!
Sam Burns $10,000
The 24 year old American fired a final round 64 en route to an eventual seventh place finish at the 2019 3M Open which was also played at TPC Twin Cities. Additionally, Burns has been playing rather well lately. To be more specific, Burns finished 17th at the Workday Charity Open in his last event played on the PGA Tour two weeks ago. As of this writing (Friday evening), after completion of two rounds of play at the 2020 3M open, Burns is currently tied for 38th with a score of three under par.
Sepp Straka $9,700
The Austrian currently ranks 14th in final round scoring average (68.75) on the PGA Tour. He also has four top 14 finishes on the PGA Tour this season, including an eighth place result at the Rocket Mortgage Classic earlier this month. Upon completion of two rounds of play at the 2020 3M Open, Straka is currently tied for 24th with a score of five under par.
Adam Schenk $8,500
After two rounds of play at the 2020 3M Open, in relation to the entire 3M Open field, Schenk is currently ranked 16th in strokes gained approach, 13th in strokes gained tee to green, and 18th in strokes gained around the green. Additionally, Schenk has three top 18 finishes on the PGA Tour this season, including a 14th place result at the American Express in January.
Kyoung-Hoon Lee $8,200
If you are looking for a low cost option in this final round contest, I think Lee is a nice play. The 28 year old Korean has four top 21 finishes on the PGA Tour this season, including a fifth place result at the RSM Classic in November. In my opinion, Lee presents outstanding upside at the low FanDuel price of only $8,200.
Cameron Davis $7,900
Yes, I know that Davis has missed his last four cuts on the PGA Tour. I also know that the young Australian has five top 29 finishes this season, including a ninth place result at the Honda Classic in March.
Upon completion of two rounds of play at the 2020 3M Open, in relation to the field, Davis currently ranks third in strokes gained off the tee, ninth in strokes gained approach, and second in strokes gained ball striking. It should be noted that Davis is an outstanding wind player. Having stated that, if the wind blows on Sunday as it did during the second round, Davis can easily fire a low score in the final round.
If you are looking for additional golfers to complete your FanDuel final round contest lineups I also like the following players:
- Tony Finau $11,600
- Harris English $10,800
- Charles Howell III $9,000
