Kia Nurse suffers injury in Liberty’s season opener

Just minutes into the season opener for the WNBA, the New York Liberty’s Kia Nurse left the court in tears with an injury. She has reportedly been evaluated in the locker room and is diagnosed with an ankle sprain.

An ankle sprain is good news for the Liberty, because Nurse is a key piece to their young and energetic lineup. There was initial speculation that the injury was a more severe ankle or knee injury based on how hand Nurse went down, but an ankle sprain will hopefully be a quick recovery.

Kia Nurse’s injury is merely an ankle issue

The Liberty are taking on the Seattle Storm, one of the most experienced and talented squads in the league. Even if Nurse is only out for this game, they’re going to have a tough time taking down the likes of Sue Bird and Breanna Stewart without her.

Hopefully, Nurse will be good to go for the Liberty’s next game on July 29 against the Dallas Wings.
