Mike Vrabel sounds like the Titans aren’t going to sign Jadeveon Clowney

Mike Vrabel has had enough of the Jadeveon Clowney talk.

The Tennessee Titans have long been mentioned as a potential landing spot for Jadeveon Clowney, as the Titans have a need at pass rusher, championship prospects, and the money to quench Clowney’s thirst on the financial end of things. The biggest obstacle towards making this scenario a reality seems to be head coach Mike Vrabel, who is getting sick and tired of having to field Clowney questions.

The former Seattle Seahawks pass rusher might have only recorded three sacks last season, but that is likely because only two defensive ends in football were double-teamed more than he was. Even with the added attention, he recorded the second-highest pressure rate of his career. In Vrabel’s system, which would have a pass rusher like Clowney sticking his hand in the dirt and pouncing on helpless quarterbacks, Clowney could return to the Pro Bowl form he showcased as a Houston Texan.

Clowney might not have signed with a team at this point, but don’t mistake his unemployment for a lack of interest. While the Titans and Jets have essentially been ruled out as potential landing spots, Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas wants Clowney to pair with Cam Jordan and Marcus Davenport down in New Orleans.

The fact that an elite pass rusher in a league that produces an alarmingly small number of elite pass rushers remains a free agent is almost criminal. Vrabel can deny it all he wants, but Clowney’s quickest path back to superstardom could start on the other side of Derrick Henry and Ryan Tannehill in Tennessee.
