Philadelphia Eagles-Zach Ertz will lead tight ends in receiving yards

The Eagles strengthened their wide receiving corps through the draft with the selection of Jalen Reagor in Round 1. He’s a terrific athlete who has a chance to develop into a solid weapon for Carson Wentz in time. The problem is that he may not be polished enough to really help the Eagles offense in 2020.

That leaves Wentz with the unenviable task of counting on Alshon Jeffery and Desean Jackson to perform as quality NFL starters. Each was a star during their respective prime, but each is now a major injury risk. That makes it unlikely that either player will lead Philadelphia in targets this season.

That’s good news for fans of Zach Ertz. He will continue to be Wentz’s top receiving target for the foreseeable future. That should be good enough to catapult him to a giant 2020 campaign. Look for Ertz to lead all tight ends in receiving yards as a result of his substantial target share.

Washington Football Team-Dwayne Haskins will be traded

Washington thought long and hard about drafting a new franchise quarterback this offseason. Instead, they opted to give Dwayne Haskins another year. That had more to do with the opportunity to select Chase Young than any real confidence in the second-year signal-caller.

Ron Rivera isn’t the ideal coach to come in and help a talented, but raw young quarterback succeed. He presided over Cam Newton’s ascendancy to stardom in Carolina, but Haskins isn’t in that league in terms of talent.

The lack of weapons in Washington will make Haskins look really bad to start the year. By the midway point of the 2020 season, he and his franchise will be looking for an exit strategy. Dumping Haskins for a middling draft choice will allow everyone to save face.
