The Bucs have added another playmaker to their squad, LeSean McCoy, who is coming off a Super Bowl victory with the Chiefs.

It felt like LeSean McCoy might decide to sign with the Eagles in 2020 and to finish his career off with the same team that drafted him in the second round back in 2009.

Instead, McCoy is taking his talents to Tampa Bay and hoping to add another ring to his collection. He’ll join an already stacked offensive group in Tampa that is looking to turn things around and make a run at the Super Bowl in 2020.

The news was official on Thursday afternoon per Adam Schefter.

McCoy spent last season with the eventual Super Bowl champion Chiefs and disappointed there, rushing for just 465 yards and four touchdowns in 13 games and nine starts. He completely disappeared near the end of the season and wasn’t even active in the Chiefs’ final two postseason games.

McCoy, who turned 32 years old earlier this month, is old for a running back and won’t be anything more than a RB2 or RB3 for his new team, but this is still a nice depth piece for the Buccaneers, who are clearly trying to add all of the talent they can.

Ronald Jones II will still get the bulk of the carries at the position, but McCoy is a seasoned vet and has now spent time with a Super Bowl champion.

Earlier this offseason, Shady McCoy was quoted saying “It would mean a lot” concerning a potential reunion with the Eagles where he spent the first six years of his career and likely would have been there longer had Chip Kelly not shipped him off to Buffalo while he was still in his prime.

Instead, McCoy opted to go with the trendy Buccaneers where he thinks is his best shot to win another ring.

Only time will tell if he still secures that ring or not with the Bucs, but he adds another element to what could be an incredibly explosive offense in Tampa Bay.
