The NHL will have a special guest for the first night of the restart.

The NBA has proven a bubble can work to keep players quarantined and safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. The NHL is looking to copy that success with two separate bubbles located in Canada.

One is in Toronto and the other is in Edmonton and as of right now, there are no positive tests for the virus. Exhibition games have been played and the real action is set to begin again Saturday with a full slate of games.

There are national anthems to be performed and the NHL has found the perfect namesake for the opening game between the New York Rangers and the Carolina Hurricanes. Wait for it!

NHL going with big names

Ladies and gentlemen, we have Buble in the bubble. Sound the goal horn!

Michael Buble will be singing the national anthem and that means the NHL is officially back. That article from The Hollywood Reporter goes on to explain how the league will be doing its best to avoid quiet atmospheres in the two bubble locations.

Will fans tune in just to hear Buble? It is entirely possible and the NHL would not have gone through the trouble if they did not think his name would at least draw some interest. But there will also be other things such as pumped in crowd noise and improved sound quality. However, the league is going with a tape delay to censor the expletives.

The NBA has given fans an early glimpse at what a bubble looks like for the finish to a competitive sports season. The early results, albeit two days worth of games, looks great and is also safe for everyone involved.

The NHL will be looking to boost ratings and some Buble in the bubble will be a nice touch for a restart that should be celebrated.
