4. The Bills defensive line could become dominant

Credit the Bills front office for doing everything in their power to strengthen their defensive line during the offseason. The team brought Mario Addison and Vernon Butler in from Carolina as two of their most expensive free-agent signings. The use of a second-round draft pick on A.J. Epenesa gives the defensive coaching staff a new edge rusher to work with.

That infusion of talent should pay dividends for the Bills in 2020. More importantly, it should help some of the team’s returning defensive lineman reach their full potential. Specifically, Ed Oliver has the natural talent to become an absolute wrecking ball at the defensive tackle position.

The group doesn’t have a bunch of big names, but what it lacks in notoriety it makes up for in sheer toughness. This group has been molded in McDermott’s image. The Bills want to be tough enough to win the battles up front.

If someone like Addison or Jerry Hughes can find a way to become a double-digit sack artist on the outside it’s easy to envision a path where this becomes one of the more productive fronts in the NFL. The development of Buffalo’s defensive line could become a huge storyline this season. The potential of the entire group is an underrated aspect of this roster.
