Hurricanes’ Sebastian Aho just hockey dunked on the Rangers (Video)

If there’s a version of dunking in hockey, Sebastian Aho just found a way to do it to Jacob Trouba and Tony DeAngelo
In eliminating the New York Rangers on Tuesday in their best-of-5 series, the Carolina Hurricanes and Sebastian Aho opted to steal their soul as well. Aho, one of the best all-around finishers in all the NHL, skated around Trouba after picking his pocket, only to dangle by DeAngelo and beat goaltender Igor Shestyorkin. The result is a clip that will surely be on the Canes 2020 season highlight reel for the rest of eternity.
Three third-period goals from the Canes, plus a 37-save performance from James Reimer, led to the Rangers untimely demise. Carolina fought back after the Rangers took their first lead of the series thanks to a Chris Krieder goal just seconds into Period 2. However, as has been the case all series, Carolina shut the door shortly thereafter, holding the Rangers star duo of Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad at bay.
Aho entered the series with fresh legs, and he and the Hurricanes feel they match up with anyone in the East
Aho and Carolina ended the regular season with 81 points, and in fourth place in the Metro. However, with several months off, the Canes feel such a level of freshness is actually an advantage.
“I feel good. I’ve been skating for over a month now. Twice a week and then three times a week and last week we skated four times per week so I feel pretty good. I’ve been working out too,” Aho said, per the Canes media session before the series.
The 22-year-old had 58 points on the season at the time the NHL decided to hit the pause button.
