NBA DFS picks August 6: Nurk goes berserk on his former team
By Mike Marteny
NBA DFS forward plays:
The Lakers have clinched the first seed in the West, so even if LeBron and Davis do play, I would bet they will play less than 30 minutes. Add in the tough matchup for Luka, and this suddenly loaded slate seems less so. The Bucks will likely limit Giannis and Middleton again, so I’d stay away from them too. Keep an eye on the lineups. Ersan Ilyasova and Robin Lopez could turn into DFS tanks again.
On the other hand, Portland needs wins and they have arguably the best player in the bubble in Jusuf Nurkic. Next to Jokic, he’s may favorite play on the slate unless Russ is out.
T.J. Warren has morphed into Domantas Sabonis. I have no issues paying for him until someone proves they can stop him. Warren has 189.25 DraftKings points in three games in the bubble.
Robert Covington is $100 more than Michael Porter Jr. on DraftKings. Porter is a lock too. I will have at least one Portland/Denver game stack. There’s a lot of fantasy goodness in that one.
Marcus Morris is an interesting punt against Dallas. They don’t play a conventional center either and he has been logging a lot of minutes with Harrell on the outside looking in at Disney World.
Kelly Olynyk is one of the few prices on DraftKings that has remained too low. He has at least 30 DraftKings points in every bubble game. Those were against Toronto, Denver, and Boston. He’s as close to a lock as you’ll get under $5,000 on either site. Unfortunately, you have to punt center if you use Olynyk on FanDuel.
On FanDuel, it’s set up so you have to use your value plays at guard unless you want to gamble on Ilyasova or Cam Johnson. There’s more roster flexibility on DraftKings, but the pricing is much tighter. However, you can use Olynyk, Nurkic, and Jokic in the same line over there. You can only have one of the three on FanDuel.
