3. Baltimore’s defense is still nasty

The offense got all the hype in Baltimore last season, but any diehard Ravens’ fan will tell you that the franchise’s calling card is a physical defense. Both of the Ravens’ Super Bowl victories came with a dominant defense, including the all-time great 2000 Baltimore defense, so it is encouraging that the Ravens have another strong unit this season.

In 2019 Baltimore gave up just 17.6 points per game, the third-fewest for any defense in the league on a per-game basis. Excellent coaching from the Ravens’ staff and a slew of talent across the board helped the Ravens’ defense stifle pretty much everyone they ran into during the regular season.

Baltimore also managed to address its one significant weakness in the draft, landing LSU linebacker Patrick Queen in the first round. Inside linebacker has been a question mark since C.J. Mosley left for a boatload of cash from the New York Jets and Queen is now poised to fill that void.

Teams have always hated playing the Ravens’ defense because they’re in for a fight that will leave them battered and bruised after the game is over. That kind of mentality still exists with this talented group, giving the Ravens an excellent shot at being Super Bowl-bound.
