FanDuel DFS Golf: Wyndham Championship preview and player picks

This week, the FanDuel/DFS community will be presented with the Wyndham Championship. Let’s take a look at this event from a fantasy golf perspective.

The 2020 Wyndham Championship will be played at Sedgefield Country Club. This golf course is a classic Donald Ross design.  The track is a par 70 that measures 7,127 yards. This course features pure Bermuda greens and fairways.

It should be noted that for this week’s tournament I will be focusing on golfers that perform well putting on Bermuda greens. The PGA Tour only has a few tournaments on the schedule with Bermuda greens.

A few examples of tournaments that offer Bermuda greens on the PGA Tour are the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational (TPC Southwind) and the Sanderson Farms Championship (Country Club of Jackson).

Here are my FanDuel player selections for the 2020 Wyndham Championship!

Patrick Reed $11,600

The American has ten top 25 finishes on the PGA Tour this season, including a win at the WGC-HSBC Champions in February. Additionally, Reed has played the Wyndham Championship four times since 2013. In those four events played at Sedgefield Country Club, Reed has four top 24 finishes, including a win in 2013.

Justin Rose $11,400

The 2013 United States Open champion has three top 14 finishes this season, including a ninth place result at the PGA Championship last week.

Yes, I know that Rose missed multiple cuts prior to his ninth place result last week. However, in my opinion, Rose’s game is trending in the positive direction. In the last four rounds played on the PGA Tour, in relation to the current Wyndham Championship field, Rose ranks 17th in strokes gained approach, first in strokes gained putting, and 11th in strokes gained on par fours.

Harris English $10,900

The 31 year old American has played eight events on the PGA Tour since February 2020. In those eight events played, English has seven top top 19 finishes, including a 13th place result at the Memorial Tournament last month.

Harris also checks the box for me when it comes to key statistics. In the last twelve rounds played on the PGA Tour, in relation to the current listed Wyndham Championship field, English ranks third in bogey avoidance, 16th in strokes gained tee to green, and fifth in strokes gained putting.

Ryan Moore $9,600

Moore arrives at this week’s event on the heels of two consecutive top 12 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a 12th place result at the Barracuda Championship two weeks ago.

Brice Garnett $8,500

The 36 year old American has three top 26 finishes in his last six events on the PGA Tour, including an 11th place result at the Honda Classic in March. Garnett also finished sixth at the 2019 Wyndham Championship.

Bo Hoag $7,700

Hoag has two consecutive top 29 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a 12th place result at the 3M Open last month. I think Hoag presents outstanding fantasy value at a FanDuel price of only $7,700.
