Arizona Cardinals – Marcus Gilbert vs. The competition at right tackle

If the Cardinals are to realize their potential to become a contender in the league’s premier division, the NFC West, they will need both solidity and continuity on the offensive line.

Marcus Gilbert was brought in to provide an experienced option at right tackle but a season-ending knee injury robbed him of his 2019. He will still be the favorite to start in 2020 but with intriguing rookie Josh Jones in the mix along with Justin Murray and Kelvin Beachum, Gilbert will have to fend off plenty of competition to make the job his.

Atlanta Falcons – Isaiah Oliver vs. Kendall Sheffield

As the Falcons’ defense inspired a resurgence down the stretch last year, Kendall Sheffield was a clear standout at cornerback. Blessed with the versatility to operate as a boundary corner in base and as a slot in nickel, his prospective battle with former second-round pick Oliver will determine whether he is limited to solely the latter role in 2019.

This battle for the boundary spot will be critical for a Falcons secondary likely to be starting rookie first-round pick A.J. Terrell across from the winner.

Baltimore Ravens – Ben Powers vs. D.J. Fluker

The Ravens have the unenviable task of trying to replace future Hall of Famer Marshall Yanda at right guard.

Baltimore will hope last year’s fourth-round pick Ben Powers can make the job his own, but the inexperienced former Oklahoma Sooner will have to beat out veteran insurance policy D.J. Fluker to do so in a battle that will be crucial to the success of the Ravens’ juggernaut ground game in 2020.

Buffalo Bills – Levi Wallace vs. Josh Norman

Josh Norman is out to revitalize his career in Buffalo with his former defensive coordinator in Carolina, Sean McDermott. However, usurping Wallace’s position as the starting corner across from Tre’Davious White will not be easy. Wallace held off Kevin Johnson to keep his job last year and had nine passes defensed and two interceptions in 2019.
