3. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Indianapolis Colts. 46. AFC. South

The Colts are quietly building a very good defense, as general manager Chris Ballard takes a measured approach with ample cap space and good drafting. Justin Houston (11 sacks last year) and Jabaal Sheard (4.5 sacks in 2019) are a fine top two defensive ends, and the overall defensive line depth is good. But the idea of adding someone like Ingram to come off the edge shouldn’t be ruled out, as Indianapolis was only a middle of the pack team in sacks last year (41).

With Philip Rivers under center, the Colts are automatically in a win-now mode for 2020. Their cap space beyond this year is practically unrivaled in the league, so signing Ingram to a multi-year deal would be palatable.

The Colts look primed to rise back to the top of the AFC South this year, if not the AFC as a whole. Making a trade for the 31-year old Ingram would not alter the broader long-term plan. It also would be a fine move for the push this year, and to fill an area that needs some reinforcement.
