Las Vegas Raiders. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. AFC. West. 2. player. 28

The Raiders went from 13 sacks in 2018 to 32 sacks last year, spurred by the instant emergence of rookie Maxx Crosby (10 sacks, eight in the second half of the season). But no one else had more than seven sacks, and that guy (Benson Mayowa) is gone.

However briefly, the Raiders seemed to enter the mix with interest in Jadeveon Clowney. That ship also sailed quickly, probably due to Clowney’s asking price that has kept him unsigned to date.

The Raiders can use any help they can get defensively. They are also up against the salary cap for 2020 right now ($4.27 million in space), but the situation going forward gets better even with the prospect of a lower cap league-wide in 2021. Some restructuring can make room for Ingram.

The Raiders notably traded Khalil Mack to the Bears a couple years ago, rather than pay him a market-resetting contact at the early stages of a rebuild/reload under Jon Gruden. Ingram is at a different point in his career than Mack was, and the Raiders are also at a different stage after going 7-9 in 2019.

The idea of taking Ingram way from a division rival while addressing a need of their own should equally and doubly appeal to the Raiders.
