Which players should you avoid drafting at all costs in fantasy football?

Going into any fantasy football draft, there are a handful of players in the back of your mind you’re just not going to take no matter what. You may despise the team he plays for, he may have ruined your fantasy season a year ago, or you don’t think he’s going to be the least bit good this season. Again, not everybody likes everybody, but who should you avoid drafting this year altogether?

The Fantasy Footballers address this topic and all three of the guys choose out a different player they are not interested in picking up this year. Whether it is overall draft value, rampant injury concerns or some combination of both, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore and Mike Wright are strong in their convictions about the one guy they’re not selecting at all costs in a draft this fantasy season.

Check out The Fantasy Footballers for all their advice.

Holloway is so out on Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster. Though he had to deal with lackluster quarterback play a season ago once Ben Roethlisberger succumbed to a season-ending injury, Smith-Schuster didn’t exactly assert himself as a No. 1 receiving option after Antonio Brown left the Steel City. This is strictly a value play Holloway wants no part of.

Why should you avoid drafting these three players in fantasy football?

Moore could not be more down on Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green. Despite being a borderline Pro Football Hall of Fame after his first seven years in the league out of Georgia, the last two years have been disastrous for Green. He might have 2019 Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow rifling him the pigskin, but Moore is out on Green based entirely on his health situation.

Wright doesn’t believe in the sort of homecoming for running back Todd Gurley to the Atlanta Falcons. Though an incredibly productive player at Georgia and for a good while there with the Los Angeles Rams, Gurley may not have one good year left in the tank physically. For that reason, Wright would rather be out on drafting him than making him a very risky low-end RB1 selection.

While there are reasons to be pessimistic about all three players from a fantasy standpoint, the clear one to be out on here is actually Smith-Schuster. When healthy, we can trust the production of Green as a receiver and Gurley as a running back. It seems as though Smith-Schuster is more of a product of his offensive system and his the play of his quarterback than either Green or Gurley.
