4. Seattle’s linebacking corps is dynamic

Bobby Wagner is widely recognized as one of the best linebackers in football. His presence alone allows the Seahawks to wreak havoc on the opposition. Credit Seattle for spending significant resources in the offseason to get him more help.

Spending a first round pick on Jordyn Brooks surprised a lot of NFL folks on Day One of the draft, but he should walk right into their starting lineup when Week 1 rolls around. The former Texas Tech star has good size for the position and plays with a lot of force. It might take him a few weeks to learn the intricacies of the Seahawks defense, but he should be a productive rookie.

K.J. Wilson returns to give the team another standout starter his outside linebacker spot. He racked up a career-high 132 tackles in 2019. Wilson’s ability to always be in the right spot helps clean up a lot of errors for his teammates.

The probable starter at the fourth linebacker spot is wily veteran Bruce Irvin. He’s actually returning to Seattle after a brief stint with the Panthers. His job will be to rush the passer whenever he’s on the field. He might be considered a one-trick pony, but his talent is something the Seahawks front seven sorely lacks.

Add it all up and this group has great balance. Carroll and his defensive staff can count on them to prop up what is a pretty average defensive line. This linebacking corps has a chance to be the most productive group in the entire NFL in 2020.
