3. D.K. Metcalf is a physical freak

There were lots of questions about how much Metcalf was actually going to be able to help the Seahawks during his rookie campaign. Everyone around the NFL acknowledged his long-term potential due to his rare combination of strength and straight-line speed. Questions about his lateral agility caused some people to believe he was going to really struggled early on.

Metcalf silenced all of his doubters by catching 58 passes for 900 yards and seven touchdowns during the 2019 regular season. The scary thing is that he has a chance to take a massive step forward in his second season as a professional.

Even though he enjoyed a productive rookie campaign, Metcalf’s route-running was still really raw last season. That’s something that should really improve between his first and second seasons in the league. Tighter route-running should improve Metcalf’s ability to make more routine catches in 2020.

The presence of Tyler Lockett on the other side still will make it tough for opponents to double team Metcalf. His raw athleticism allows him to overwhelm high-quality defensive backs when he’s presented with opportunities to work against single coverage. Look for Metcalf to blow past the 1,000 yards receiving mark this year.
