2. San Diego Padres

The Padres have become one of the most fun teams to watch in all of baseball, but their bullpen has been pretty bad. Their bullpen is ranked as the fourth-worst in the entire league with a combined ERA of 5.86.

Like the Reds, San Diego has a solid starting rotation (fourth best), which has helped get them to a 16-12 record and made them an intriguing team to follow as we inch closer to the trade deadline.

Drew Pomeranz, who is the team’s closer, landed on the injured list, but before that happened, he was wheeling and dealing in that role, registering four saves and still sitting with a 0.00 ERA. A few other Padres relievers have stepped in and recorded saves in his absence, but Rosenthal would give them a nice insurance policy, even if they don’t keep him in the closer role.

The Padres need to go for broke at the deadline. They have the juice to make a deep run in the postseason and adding a legitimate reliever like Rosenthal could be exactly what they need to push them far this fall.
