1. Chicago Cubs

The team that needs Trevor Rosenthal’s services the most is the Cubs, whose bullpen has been atrocious in 2020. Not only that, but the Cubs are stacked everywhere else except in the bullpen. That makes this move even more imperative.

The Cubs have a substantial lead in their division and shouldn’t have any problems making it to the postseason. Once they get there, however, they’ll need to have a bullpen that can lock things down and hold a lead.

Rowan Wick has been impressive in the closer role, so if the Cubs did bring Rosenthal in, they’d have options with where to use him. While the Cubs relievers have improved since the first few weeks of the season, they’re still ranked near the bottom as far as bullpens go (23rd in the league with a combined ERA of 5.36).

Chicago hasn’t gone on the kind of World Series run that many thought they would after they won it all in 2016, but they have a real shot to win the trophy this fall. To do so, however, their bullpen needs help and Rosenthal could provide them with that boost.

These three teams need relief pitching and trading for Trevor Rosenthal might not come cheap, but it could be the difference between winning a World Series or watching the fall classic from home.
