Derek Carr, Las Vegas Raiders

Is it possible that in his seventh season as an NFL quarterback, Carr could suddenly become a quarterback capable of leading his team to a Super Bowl? Sure. Is it likely? No.

The Raiders have a new home and a fiery head coach, seemingly hellbent on bringing winning football back to this historically proud franchise. And, we have underachieving quarterback with ample weaponry and a very good offensive line, but yet seems to shrink in some of the season’s biggest moments.

So yes, we have benched quarterback situation written all over the Raiders.

This offseason, Las Vegas brought in Marcus Mariota on a two-year deal to provide competition. Mariota has failed to live up to the expectations inherent with being a high draft pick, but he still has tools and potential.

This is likely a back-and-forth situation throughout the season with no clear cut frontrunner to lead the way. For Raiders fans, let’s hope this is not the case. If it is, the team is likely to angle for a top-tier quarterback in the 2021 Draft.
