Pick Analysis. 2B. 2.. player. Scouting Report. Detroit Tigers. Jonathan Schoop. 63

Did you really think this piece would be all relief pitchers? Of course not! Besides the bullpen, the Cubs could use a quality bat at second base. While Nico Hoerner is putting up decent numbers this year (15 hits, nine RBI), the Cubs could really use a power hitter for their playoff push. Cubbies, say hello to Jonathan Schoop.

The Detroit Tigers signed Jonathan Schoop to a one-year, $6.1 million contract this past winter, and he became the team’s Opening Day second baseman. Through 28 games this season, Schoop is slashing .300/.331/.518 while accumulating 33 hits, seven home runs and 17 RBI.

Given the Cubs will have to face strong hitting teams like the Los Angeles Dodgers or the San Diego Padres this postseason, then they need to bring in batters who can drive in runs. Schoop will do just that for the Cubs.
