Pick Analysis. Kansas City Royals. 1.. player. Scouting Report. RP. Trevor Rosenthal. 7

When it comes to quality relievers on the trade market, the name at the top of the list is Trevor Rosenthal of the Kansas City Royals. Yes, he is a part of a Royals team near the bottom of the AL Central and still in the midst of a rebuild. Adding more prospects to their pipeline could do wonders of Kansas City, and Chicago should happily oblige.

Rosenthal has pitched in 15 games this season, and has posted a 3.59 ERA and struck out 21 batters in 13.2 innings pitched. More importantly, he has seven saves in seven opportunities, which is the fifth-most in all of MLB.

The Cubs need a solid option at closer if they want to make a push for the World Series. Never forget that Chicago did so back in 2016 by acquiring Aroldis Chapman from the New York Yankees. Chapman had a 3.52 ERA and a 0.913 WHIP in five games of the World Series, and that’s with him surrendering the Rajai Davis home run in Game 7.

Cubs should bring back this familiar face to build bullpen depth. light. Related Story

Rosenthal won’t come at as steep of a price as it was to acquire Chapman, but the juice is worth the squeeze. Having a quality closer will help in the most important games of the season.
