Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence should start looking at houses in Jacksonville
Clemson quarterback and presumptive No. 1 pick Trevor Lawrence should start looking for a place in Duval County after the Jaguars sold off assets.
If Clemson Tigers quarterback Trevor Lawrence wants to get a head start on preparing for his NFL career, he would be wise to start looking into a place in the Jacksonville area.
After the Jaguars traded defensive end Yannick Ngakoue and waived running back Leonard Fournette, it appears that they are on a collision course with Lawrence. Jacksonville is tanking, plain and simple, and adding the decorated Clemson signal-caller could accelerate the rebuild.

The turnover on Jacksonville’s roster in just three short seasons is eye-popping. As many on Twitter pointed out, the Jaguars only have 12 players from the 2017 AFC Championship team on the current roster after cutting Fournette.
Perhaps even more shocking is the lack of high-end talent on a team that always seems to be picking near the top of the first round. As ESPN’s Michael DiRocco pointed out, the Jaguars have just four first-round picks on the roster and one of them, defensive tackle Taven Bryan, appears to be a bust with just three career sacks.
Quarterback Gardner Minshew showed flashes as a rookie, but any fan arguing for him to remain the starter with Lawrence readily available is simply out of touch. The Heisman contender is one of the best quarterback prospects in recent memory, and passing on him could be just as bad as passing on Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes in favor of Fournette.
The Jaguars open their season on September 13 against the Indianapolis Colts, while Clemson kicks off against Wake Forest a day earlier. If all goes according to plan, Lawrence will likely be calling the shots at TIAA Bank Field in just over a year.
