SAF. 1. player. Scouting Report. Dallas Cowboys. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. 123. Pick Analysis

Clinton-Dix seemed like a perfect fit in Dallas, as he reunited with former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy and was expected to assume a starting role after Byron Jones bolted for the Miami Dolphins. However, even after his solid season with the Chicago Bears last season, McCarthy soured on his former first-round pick, cutting him before he even played a snap in Cowboy blue.

While Clinton-Dix never made the leap from good to great both Green Bay and Chicago expected he would, it’s hard to argue that his ability to stuff the run in the box and create turnovers don’t establish him as a quality starting safety in this league. McCarthy’s puzzling decision to get rid of the former Alabama star should be music to the ears of any contending team that is a little leaky on the back end, as they could fix that problem instantly by signing Clinton-Dix.
