Refs miss obvious false start penalty on Texans touchdown (Video)

Officials must’ve had Deshaun Watson on their fantasy team
It’s not Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans’ night, as they were tasked with defeating the Kansas City Chiefs on the night they hung their first Super Bowl Banner in a half-century. Yeah, good luck. Patrick Mahomes and Clyde Edwards-Helaire shredded the Houston defense, while Watson never really got it going offensively until it was too late.
That being said, Watson did pad his stats late in the game, thanks to a touchdown only granted to him with the benefit of bad officiating. In this case, the ball does lie.
Very rarely is there such an obviously bad call in a professional football game (okay, we lied). Opening night has still gone according to plan thus far, with the officiating far from the spotlight. That’s exactly how the NFL likes it, and we can only hope Sunday doesn’t feature such disastrous calls that actually matter.
A garbage time touchdown from Watson doesn’t pose much of a threat to anyone but the gambling world. Should such a moment happen in the fourth quarter of a one-score game, however, fans across the league might be singing a different tune.
