Freddie Freeman took break from Braves road trip to be a great dad
Freddie Freeman made an amazing dad move over the weekend.
The Atlanta Braves are sitting atop the NL East and appear set to return to the postseason barring an epic collapse with 12 games remaining. A huge key to the team’s success has been the play of Freddie Freeman.
The Braves star added two hits Monday night to bump his slash line up to .345/.462/.643 on the season. His WAR is already over 2.0 in the shortened season and he is playing great after enduring a fight with COVID-19 before the season began.
Freeman also showed off some skills away from the field over the weekend. This time he proved to be a great dad who made quite the trip to take in his son’s big day on the tee-ball diamond.
Freddie Freeman the father
This was cool to see from Freeman. The Braves left for a road trip on Sept. 10 and don’t have a home game again until Sept. 21. But that didn’t stop Freeman from catching a flight home to see his son take part in his first tee-ball practice.
It is also surprising to see the Braves allow Freeman to do this given the COVID-19 precautions in place. However, MLB is not using a bubble, so that comes with the territory.
The gesture is amazing regardless and it shows how excited Freeman was to see his son’s practice. Taking two flights in the span of a few hours is not ideal, but the Braves All-Star did it for his family.
This is yet another example why Freeman is a fan favorite in Atlanta. He seems like a genuinely good guy and his play on the field helps his reputation as well.
