Pick Analysis. 47. player. Scouting Report. AFC East. . New England Patriots. 2

While Cam Newton steamrolling the Dolphins showed that Josh McDaniels and Bill Belichick were willing to switch up the offense after Tom Brady left, the Patriots still have a massive, glaring hole at wide receiver. Newton’s arm talent can make up for a lot, but this offense is still a work in progress and only trading for someone of Robinson’s caliber can fix that in the immediate future.

Even during Brady’s final seasons, wide receiver depth was a problem, and N’Keal Harry failing to take the next step should have Belichick looking to trade for another wide receiver. While the Mohamed Sanu deal totally fell through and ended up burning the Patriots, that shouldn’t dissuade Belichick from adding Robinson, who is clearly a cut or two above Sanu as a receiver. Robinson might be the best receiver that Newton has had the pleasure of throwing too since Steve Smith left the Panthers.
