DraftKings U.S. Open picks: $9,000 range

Bryson DeChambeau, $9,900 – DeChambeau’s big driving took the world by storm and actually had him in relative contention at the PGA. However, he then finished 83rd at THE NORTHERN TRUST and 50th at the BMW before struggling at the Tour Championship. I’m not sure he has the full game in hand right now to win a major.

Webb Simpson, $9,700 – Struggles at East Lake can likely be attributed to skipping the BMW. Prior to that, Simpson was third at the Wyndham and sixth at THE NORTHERN TRUST. Simpson is a fairway finder with elite iron and short game that could prove valuable at Winged Foot.

Patrick Cantlay, $9,400 – In terms of the totality of his game, Cantlay should be in line to win a major sooner rather than later. But with his recent form (no top 10s in his last five starts), the 2020 U.S. Open isn’t likely to be one. I’d avoid him with your DraftKings picks.

Daniel Berger, $9,200 – After a torrid restart in which he won, finished third, finished second and finished third over the span of two months, Berger cooled down a bit at the BMW and Tour Championship. Having said that, his putting is elite and his all-around game at this price makes him an enticing play.

Tony Finau, $9,100 – Despite the justified narrative regarding Finau’s lack of wins, the fact remains that he consistently puts up good finishes. He notched top-10s at the Memorial and 3M Open in addition to a top-five at the PGA and BMW. Is the win equity there? Maybe not. But for this price, it could be the recipe for another strong Finau finish.

Hideki Matsuyama, $9,000 – If Matsuyama had a consistent putting stroke, he’d be a fixture as one of the top five players in the world. But on the greens at Winged Foot with his lack of prowess in that area of his game, this is a fade for me.
