DraftKings fantasy golf picks: U.S. Open 2020
DraftKings U.S. Open picks: $8,000 range
Tommy Fleetwood, $8,900 – Fleetwood didn’t have the best restart on the PGA Tour once he returned in late July. However, he showed up last week with a third-place finish at the Portugal Masters and has two top-fives in the U.S. Open to his credit. At this price, if he maintains his tee-to-green form he showed last week, he could pop up in a big way.
Jason Day, $8,800 – After four-straight top-10 finishes, Day seemed like he might be surging back to relevancy. Unfortunately, he followed that up with a dreadful showing in the playoffs. He’s too unreliable for me to put him in my DraftKings lineup.
Adam Scott, $8,700 – Scott has only played thrice since the restart and hasn’t been spectacular but any means. However, if you want to gamble on a sweet swing and a player who has 19 top-10s in majors for his career, then you could be enticed by the Aussie at this price.
Tiger Woods, $8,600 – Especially with how his putter has been, Tiger feels like a fade this week. He missed the cut at Winged Foot in 2006 (albeit his first major after the death of his father) and his game just really isn’t there right now. Making the cut would be a victory, which means DFS players should steer clear.
Patrick Reed, $8,500 – This is a bit conceptual of a play but there’s a narrative to fit Reed playing well here. He’s got a tremendous short game and, if everyone is hacking out of the rough and struggling to hit fairways, a grinder who can save par could be extremely valuable. That’s what Patrick Reed brings to the table.
Tyrell Hatton, $8,100 – Hatton cooled off after a 1-4-3 finishing stretch prior to the shutdown and right after the restart. But one of the most underrated players in the world dialed in down the stretch and finished seventh at the Tour Championship. If he can keep his cool, the value here could be substantial.
Viktor Hovland, $8,000 – After looking like a force fresh off the restart, Hovland cooled down at the PGA and in the playoff, though he did make the Tour Championship still. With a week of rest, if his tee-to-green game can get back in form, he could pop up as he showed well as an amateur in the 2019 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach.
Matthew Fitzpatrick, $8,000 – Inconsistency with his driver and irons makes Fitzpatrick a risky play. But if putting on tough greens is going to be a key to winning, few can get as hot with the flat-stick as Fitzpatrick. He’s an interesting play for just $8,000.
