The Cleveland Browns are on upset alert against the Bengals

Few teams were worse in Week 1 than the Browns, who got completely dominated by the Baltimore Ravens. There is no shame in losing to Lamar Jackson, who looks like he is on his way to another level of stardom, but the Browns were simply abysmal.

Baker Mayfield struggled mightily to move the ball against the Ravens defense and the Browns continuously shot themselves in the foot with turnovers. Cleveland lost two fumbles and saw Mayfield throw an interception while their defense couldn’t do anything to contain Jackson.

Despite their putrid performance, the Browns were established as 5.5 point favorites for a Thursday night showdown against the Cincinnati Bengals. Joe Burrow had his lumps in his NFL debut for the Bengals but he still had them in position to kick a game-tying field goal against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The kick missed and the Bengals lost but this continues a trend from last season where Cincinnati was competitive in most of their games. Despite winning only two games the Bengals lost another eight by single-digits, including a 27-19 loss at Cleveland.

The Bengals have plenty of talent for Burrow to work with and they should be highly motivated to pick up another win over their in-state rivals after ending the 2019 season with a win over the Browns in Week 17. Cleveland has a short time to get over their miserable Week 1 showing and that quick turnaround could lead to an upset in Week 2.
