2020 is wild … Michael Jordan just won an Emmy.
We could never have gotten through quarantine blues without ESPN’s The Last Dance and now we know the love we all felt for the 10-hour docuseries detailing the life of Michael Jordan was good to the critics too. The film won the prestigious Emmy award for Best Documentary Series at Sunday’s event. This marks the first-ever Emmy for Jordan who is (obviously) not regularly dabbling in the movies.
Jordan can now add that gold statue next to his six NBA championships. Wonder which one is worth more?
The Emmy’s were a lot different this year and was the first major entertainment award show since the coronavirus shut down the world. The 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards was held virtually and aired live with Jimmy Kimmel as the host.
The Last Dance beat out Tiger King
That might be easier said than done. “There’s a lot of challenges that come with doing a live show in a COVID environment,” the Emmys executive producer Reggie Hudlin told Variety. “But we’re not running from those problems, we’re embracing them.”
The Last Dance was in good company and went up against Netflix’s Tiger King, Hulu’s Hillary, PBS’ American Masters and HBO’s McMillion$.
