Russell Wilson reached out to James White on Twitter before Sunday’s game.

New England Patriots running back James White is out for Sunday night’s game against the Seattle Seahawks due to a tragic situation. His father was killed in a car crash Sunday and his mother is reportedly in critical condition.

This is absolutely gut-wrenching news and our thoughts are with White and his family. Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson took time to send a tweet to White before taking the field Sunday.

Russell Wilson sends his condolences

Wilson sending this tweet is a small gesture, but still a nice one. Bill Belichick spent the week talking about how great the quarterback is and that extends to his personality off the field as well. Wilson and the Seahawks were likely informed of the tragic news and the quarterback being a team leader allows him to speak for the locker room.

This situation is obviously much bigger than football. But a game is still to be played and in that context, the Patriots should still be fine without White on the field. He should be allowed to take as much time as he needs to return as all this just happened Sunday. The Patriots can rely on Cam Newton, Sony Michel, and Rex Burkhead to get the main load of the carries in the meantime.

Next. Bill Belichick just gave Russell Wilson the best compliment. dark

Wilson has gained the respect of a great coach like Belichick and that speaks volumes about how he is viewed around the league. He also knows what things are bigger than football and it would not be a shock for him to send out another message to White following the game.
