Seattle Seahawks fan favorite Bruce Irvin may be done for the rest of the year with a torn ACL.

Devastating news has arrived for Seattle Seahawks fans everywhere following the thrilling Week 2 win over the New England Patriots. Late in that victory, veteran linebacker Bruce Irvin went down with a knee injury and was spotted on the bench in pain. At the time, things didn’t look to be overly serious.

However, that’s all changed on Monday. Per multiple reports, the Seahawks fear Irvin has suffered a torn ACL and his 2020 campaign will come to a close. Once the MRI confirms that, it’ll truly bring plenty of heartbreak to the Seattle fanbase.

Bruce Irvin is loved by Seattle fans everywhere and was on the Super Bowl team against the Broncos

Losing Irvin for the rest of the year would be a big blow for the defense, but he’s also incredibly outspoken and is beloved by fans everywhere in Seattle. After leaving town for a few years, Seattle signed Irvin this past offseason and celebrations immediately took place all over The Emerald City.

Irvin spent the first four years of his career with the Seahawks, helping Seattle win its first ever Super Bowl back in February of 2014. That season, Irvin started 12 games, posting 40 tackles and two sacks. After stops with the Raiders, Falcons and Panthers, he returned to Seattle in 2020 and had five tackles thus far this campaign.

Unfortunately for him, his ACL tear is going to put the kibosh on what was supposed to be a memorable homecoming for him with the Seahawks. It’s a bummer for Pete Carroll and everyone else who was rooting for him to make a major difference for the team’s defense this season.
