The Pittsburgh Steelers’ game against the Tennessee Titans has been postponed.

The NFL has encountered their first major COVID-19 outbreak of the 2020 season, as four players and five team personnel on the Tennessee Titans have all tested positive for the virus.

With the Titans currently barred from their team facility in an effort to reduce or eliminate the spread of the virus, the league has decided that playing on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers was just too risky and postponed the game.

While ESPN’s Dianna Russini confirmed that the Week 4 game has been postponed and will not be played on Sunday, Ian Rapoport asserted that the game will either be played alongside the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night or on Tuesday.

The Titans have has nine players and personnel test positive

The Titans placed long snapper Beau Brinkley, defensive tackle DaQuan Jones, and tight end Tommy Hudson on the reserve COVID-19 list after yesterday’s round of testing, showing that these three were players who tested positive.

Today, Dan Graziano reported that a fourth player had tested positive for the virus.

On the positive side of things, the league found that there were no close contacts with the player who tested positive, which shows that the isolation procedures are working to a degree. In addition, no one on the Minnesota Vikings, Tennessee’s Week 3 opponent who also shut down the team facility, has tested positive.

Considering that Tennessee has a bye in Week 7 and Pittsburgh’s was in Week 8, this was the only practical option on the table right now.

Hopefully, if the NFL’s coronavirus protocols continue to work as the league’s medical office says they will, the Titans and Steelers will be able to field a healthy roster of 53 players and take each other on in what promises to be one of the best games in the young season.
