NFL DFS Bargain Bin: Week 4 Sunday Slates Quarterbacks
Derek Carr, LV vs. BUF ($5,300-DK/ $6,900-FD)
Carr has somewhat quietly put together a solid start to his season, posting 13.6 to 21.6 FD points over his first three games. The veteran has a 6:0 TD:INT and career-best 74.0 percent completion rate while posting the second-highest YPA figure of his career (7.8). The Bills wouldn’t have been thought of as a defense to necessarily target before the season began, but Buffalo is surrendering the ninth-most FD points per game (23.6) to quarterbacks, along with a 65.8 percent completion rate.
Carr will admittedly have an uphill battle in this home matchup due to the expected absence of receivers Henry Ruggs and Bryan Edwards due to hamstring and ankle injuries, respectively, but his two primary targets this season have been Hunter Renfrow and Darren Waller anyhow. He also has a veteran wideout that could step up in the form of Nelson Agholor, and it’s also worth noting the Bills have already surrendered a 19-245-1 to tight ends over the first three contests, upping Carr’s chances of connecting frequently with Waller.
Kirk Cousins, MIN at HOU ($5,600-DK/ $6,800-FD)
Cousins’ price is extremely reasonable across the industry due to his highly uneven start to the campaign. However, the veteran quarterback may have gone a long way toward righting the ship in Week 3 by establishing a prolific connection with highly talented rookie Justin Jefferson. The concern with Cousins is he’s still displaying an atypical degree of inaccuracy (career-low 59.0 percent completion rate and six interceptions through three games), but he’s facing a Texans defense that’s yielded a 70.7 percent completion rate and 6:0 TD:INT over the first three weeks.
Cousins’ struggles thus far are baked into his price, and considering he’s already compiled over 20 FD points in two of his three starts, he’s actually carrying very reasonable salaries. Then, consider Houston has been the league’s worst defense against the run, and while that could certainly encourage coach Mike Zimmer to focus heavily on feeding Dalvin Cook, it could also open things up downfield for receivers Adam Thielen and Jefferson in one-on-one coverage. The Vikings secondary has also been very porous, which ups the chances Minnesota will need to remain aggressive throughout the contest.
