3. Jerick McKinnon (SF)

Game: San Francisco 49ers at Philadelphia Eagles (Sunday, 10/4, 8:20 pm EST)

We’re doing it. FanSided is picking two running backs from the same team, a duplicate selection from last week’s sleeper picks. That’s right, we picked McKinnon and Wilson Jr. to flourish amid Jimmy Garoppolo and George Kittle’s absence. And, we prognosticated correctly.

McKinnon — healthy for the first time since 2017 — is a jack-of-all-trades back. He’s precisely the type of clay Kyle Shanhana massages into 49ers offenses. Last week was a miniature sample size of what McKinnon can do. He scored a touchdown and hauled in about 40 receiving yards.

Striking while the iron is hot, we hereby pick McKinnon as a sleeper for another week.

4. Jeff Wilson Jr. (SF)

Game: San Francisco 49ers at Philadelphia Eagles (Sunday, 10/4, 8:20 pm EST)

His buddy, Jeff Wilson Jr., also got in on the fun against the New York Giants in Week 3. He’s younger than McKinnon by four years, and the tandem last weekend was rather productive. Wilson Jr. hit paydirt twice and chipped off 69 yards from scrimmage against a Giants’ defense that isn’t all that horrible, contrary to popular belief (it’s the Giants offense that is dastardly so far).

We enjoy this McKinnon-Wilson Jr. coupling because Shanahan is a maestro of implementing these types of tailbacks.

One more week of sleeper designation for both of these 49ers.
