Heisman candidate No. 10: Zamir White, RB, Georgia

Because everyone was worried about the Georgia Bulldogs quarterback situation after last week, lost in the shuffle a bit was the fact that Zamir White looked quite good in his first game as the lead back under Kirby Smart. In the win over Arkansas, he rushed for 71 yards on 13 carries with two receptions for nine yards. But on a massive stage against Auburn in Week 5, White came up even bigger.

White led the Bulldogs in rushing with 19 carries for 88 yards, finding the end zone twice on the night in an emphatic win for Georgia over a top-10 opponent. The young running back entered the year with high expectations and, as the offense gets adjusted to a new system with a new line, we should see White only continue to get better as the games wear on.

Heisman candidate No. 9: Matt Corral, QB, Ole Miss

Maybe this is jumping the gun a bit as the Ole Miss Rebels are only 1-1 on the season but it seems pretty obvious that quarterback Matt Corral is going to put up some monster numbers in Lane Kiffin’s offense for a team that, with their firepower, might compete with anyone. So after putting up 395 yards and three scores in a loss to Florida, Corral shined as the Rebels knocked off Kentucky in an overtime thriller on Saturday.

In the 42-41 win, Corral was lights out, completing 82.8 percent of his passes for 320 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. Oh yeah, the sophomore also has 101 rushing yards to go with his over 700 yards passing and seven scores through two games. Again, this might be premature but Corral is clearly thriving in Kiffin’s offense right out of the gate.
