2020 NFL power rankings, Week 5: Browns explode, Jets implode
Brian Flores’ squad had some extra time to prepare for Russell Wilson and the explosive Seahawks’ passing attack. And the Miami defense did come up with a pair of sacks and did pick off the Seattle signal-caller. But the Dolphins settled for too many field goals (5) despite coming up with 415 total yards of offense. Veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick ran for a team-high 47 yards and the team’s only TD. He also threw for 315 yards but served up a pair of interceptions.
The Bolts made their way to the Sunshine State to face an NFC South team for the second straight week. Thanks to a pair of touchdown passes by rookie Justin Herbert and an interception return for a score by Michael Davis, Los Angeles opened up a 24-7 edge in the second quarter. But the Chargers’ defense really didn’t have any answers for Tom Brady and the Bucs’ offense, which totaled 484 yards and Anthony Lynn’s club lost for the third straight week.
Vic Fangio’s team looked to avoid a 0-4 start for the second consecutive year. Denver started its third different quarterback in as many games and Brett Rypien made his first NFL start. He would throw for 242 yards and two scores but was also picked off three times. Ultimately the difference was a pass rush that got to Jets’ quarterback Sam Darnold six times as well as a big night by Melvin Gordon, who ran 23 times for 107 yards and two scores.
