4. NFL Week 5 best bets: New York Giants +9.5

Our second underdog of the week is the Giants, who are getting 9.5 points on the road against the Dallas Cowboys. There is no question that New York is one of the worst teams in football and could be a contender for the top pick in next April’s draft but they have been fairly competitive in most of their games.

The Giants were nearly two-touchdown underdogs against the Los Angeles Rams but were down 10-9 in the fourth quarter before a broken play touchdown from Cooper Kupp put the game out of reach. The contest also saw a marked improvement from New York’s suspect offensive line, which did a tremendous job keeping Aaron Donald and the Rams’ excellent pass rush from wrecking the game.

New York is getting nearly 10 points in Dallas this week against a Cowboys’ team that is more talented but one epic Falcons’ collapse away from being 0-4 themselves. Dallas got demolished by Cleveland on Sunday, allowing over 500 yards of offense in the loss, making it close for a bit thanks to their explosive offense.

There’s no doubt that Dallas will move the football on a suspect Giants’ defense, but the Cowboys’ own defense should let the Giants hang around. New York could also snag a backdoor cover easily so grab the 9.5 points here with confidence.
