NFL Week 5 lines and odds: 5 best bets to make
The Ravens and Cardinals are among the NFL’s best bets in Week 5.
The points have been flying across the NFL this season as bad defenses have led to incredibly productive fantasy days. We’ve also seen a fair share of separation emerge between good teams and bad teams, which has led to some astronomical lines this week, with 11 games featuring at least 5.5 point spreads.
Those high spreads can play to the advantage of betters in more ways than one and this week’s best bets feature five games where the margin is quite large. As always, all lines come courtesy of the FanDuel Sportsbook.
5. NFL Week 5 best bets: Jacksonville Jaguars +6.5
This week has a lot of numbers that make you scratch your head and the Houston Texans are chief among them. Despite being 0-4 and featuring a very bad defense that is the worst in the NFL against the run, the Texans have been established as 6.5 point favorites at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Unlike Houston, the Jaguars do have a win under their belt, and it was a divisional triumph to boot when they topped the Indianapolis Colts at home in Week 1. Jacksonville has been competitive in three of their four games, including a close loss at Tennessee in Week 2, and they feature a solid running game headlined by rookie James Robinson.
The Texans are still the likely winners here but they need a touchdown to cover the number, which seems a bit high considering the potential for garbage time stat production out of Gardner Minshew. Take the points with Jacksonville.
