Henry Ruggs had his first highlight-reel play as a Raider.

Seeing the likes of Justin Jefferson and CeeDee Lamb emerge as stars this early while Henry Ruggs III nursed an injury had to be difficult for the Las Vegas Raiders. However, Ruggs is healthy for their Week 5 match, and he is showing off all the reasons why he was drafted that high.

Ruggs finally made his presence felt with the Raiders against the hated Kansas City Chiefs, as he made a fantastic 46-yard catch while using the helmet of Chiefs corner Rashad Fenton to help him secure the catch. The Raiders ended up with a field goal after Ruggs got them close.

Henry Ruggs has legitimate game-breaking speed

While Jerry Jeudy was more productive than Ruggs at Alabama, the Raiders picked Ruggs 12th overall because they believed his speed could give their offense a new vertical dimension. While Derek Carr has developed a bit of a reputation as a checkdown-heavy passer, he might feel more comfortable throwing deep to Ruggs.

Ruggs and 2020 third-rounder Bryan Edwards give the Raiders tons of big-play potential on offense. Steve Spagnuolo and the Chiefs better get used to defending Ruggs, as he looks like he’ll be a fixture in Vegas for the next decade.

Against the likes of Patrick Mahomes and the rest of that Kansas City offense, Carr and Ruggs will need to link up a few times against Bashaud Breeland and the Chiefs’ defense if the Raiders want to pull off the upset.
