50. Head Coach. 2. player. Detroit Lions. Matt Patricia. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Detroit took their bye this week and maybe that was the best news for Matt Patricia. It should give him time to fix his defensive scheme for the mid-point of the season to save his job. What’s the saying about former Bill Belichick assistants? Three years minimum before they’re fired and head back to Foxborough?

You can give a little credit to the offensive struggles due to injuries and rookie mistakes. The Lions were without their top target in Kenny Golladay for two weeks and they were a catch away from DAndre Swift from being 2-2 on the year. But the defense, fully-healthy to make matters worse, might be the biggest disappointment after a free agent overhaul.

Patrica thought that bringing former Patriots’ players would correct the defensive woes. Instead, they all seem to be missing parts to drive into contention for the Motor City franchise. In each of their three losses, Detroit has blown a double-digit lead entering the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, Patricia is sitting with a 10-25-1 record, which is closing in on a worse record than Rod Marinelli’s 10-38 finish. When Terry Bradshaw spends the bye week calling out your coaching style, that says all one needs to know.
